Beach Town - An Expressive Coastal Landscape Painting in Mixed Media

“Beach Town” was inspired by a photo I took while visiting Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. It was a hot summer day on the coast, with haze over the water as the hot air from land swept over the dunes and interacted with the cool breeze of Lake Michigan. The scene captures the shoreline grasses and native plants as the grow in this northern Michigan landmark.

In this piece the sun glows through clouds in a blue sky over native plants in watercolor and pastels. Created on archival quality, 100% cotton paper, this painting evokes a sense of playfulness and optimism.
