“Sunrise” is a mixed media painting inspired by the process of planning hikes in lands unknown to me. As I researched adventures that we might take in places that we had never been, I daydreamed about what we will see and what I hope to see. I envisioned spring wildflower meadows full to the brim with lush blossoms and grasses that sway under the open sky. How might these beautiful plants change in tones throughout the day? Could I rise early enough to see them at sunrise?

In this piece the sun rises and warms the sky to a rich and delicate pink - a background to the waves of romantic wildflowers that take centerstage in watercolor and pastels. Created on archival quality, 100% cotton paper, this painting is energizing and idyllic.
